Internship: Entry-level Scientist, Formulations development

Arsenal Medical is an early-stage, medical device company that is developing innovative medical products for localized therapies. We are a multi-disciplinary team of biologists, chemists, materials scientists, and engineers, working in close collaboration to understand the biology of disease and to create solutions that address some of today’s most challenging and critical unmet medical needs.  Arsenal Medical has created a state-of-the art research and development environment in the Boston metropolitan area.

We currently have an opening for a recent BS/MS graduate with experience in synthetic chemistry and formulations development. This position will support our program to develop a novel medical device based on an in-situ foaming material.

Key areas of responsibility

• Develop foam formulations to meet target specifications
• Characterize foam formulations as per internal test methods
• Support bench-top testing and scale-up of foam formulations for animal studies
• Create and manage a database containing information on new foam formulations
• Draft technical reports and intellectual property filings as appropriate
• Create presentations and present weekly progress in functional and project team meetings
• Work with cross-functional team members to select and refine foam formulations

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science or related discipline
• Prior experience in formulations development is a plus
• Immediate availability for a 6-to-12 month work experience
• Previous experience with the following analytical techniques is preferred:  SEM, Instron testing
• Proficient in basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills
• Ability to work in a dynamic, small medical device start-up
